I saw like five of these posters at every subway stop in Manhattan, and I had the same thoughts with their use of the word “it.” Highly offensive.Hello anti-trans bigotry.* I know what movie I’ll gladly avoid feeding with my dollars.
*Get it? “It ain’t pretty” because she has an adams apple! And a penis! And that means she’s really a he! And hes can’t be pretty! Hahahaha… ha… FAIL.
(via Enter The Jack and Jill Awkward Sibling ContestAdam Sandler is Jack and Jill. In theaters 11/11/11)
Comedy, at the expense of people.
I think ‘Jill’ is probably supposed to be a cis woman in the context of the movie. But ‘HURR DURR, ADAM SANDLER IN DRAG’ is the main joke here, so it could still be considered transphobic. I don’t see how anyone over the age of seven would be interested in this, anyway.
why is adam sandler
Yes. I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what it was that was really bugging me about this movie (aside from the fact that it looks REALLY bad). You’ve all said what I was thinking but couldn’t quite put into words.
ETA: For some reason when I save this afunnyfeminist’s comment doesn’t show up. That comment is that their use of “it” is also offensive.

I know transphobic ‘femininists’ exist. But I didn’t know to what extent until I saw this:

If you click the link, please be prepared for some of the most messed up content I’ve ever seen. Openly mocking and targetting trans people (usually trans women) is frequent. It is sickening.
And again, I am embarrassed that they call themselves femininists and cis. As a cis feminist myself, I am ashamed to have you in
my community. You know what, no. You are not in my community. You claim to be, but your values DO NOT represent mine.
^ AGREED.
